Meet Azar Fattahi and Lia McNairy, the creative minds behind LALA Reimagined. The designer duo has been creating a cluster of alluring modern homes in Malibu and Palm Spring, and conceived the refurbishment project of La Granada, a Hollywood Hills estate brimming with incredibly clever color tricks.
LALA Reimagined was conceived in Los Angeles when Azar Fattahi met Lia McNairy in iconic Laurel Canyon. Fattahi grew up in Spain, later moving to Los Angeles. Her multifaceted creative pursuits spanned events and marketing, before she uncovered her true calling in design. McNairy, a native New Yorker and former Creative Director spent her childhood years in the South of France. She built her career in the fashion industry in New York. Both women champion design as a lifestyle art, being heavily influenced by their European upbringings, fearlessly pushing boundaries and defying norms, integrating modern and vintage elements in their work.
About La Granada Project - Built in 1941, and approximately 5,200 square feet, this Hollywood Hills estate was designed with the intention to create a home reminiscent of a small hotel, where every space is functional without skimping on design. Designed for a true color lover, the designers used wallpaper as running start to dictate the mood and direction of the furniture pieces chosen.

How did you first become involved in the world of design? Tell us your story.
LALA reimagined was founded in Los Angeles by two creatives, Lia McNairy & Azar Fattahi. A creative love affair and collaboration that started over a glass of wine and a bowl of pasta at Pace restaurant in Laurel Canyon. This is the story of how LALA reimagined was conceived. How would you describe your personal style and what’s the personal signature that makes your project unique?
We believe interiors are an extension of oneself. We work with a wide variety of textures and designs that transcend any one style to create a space with modern, whimsical, chic layers. Our personal styles are similar and reflect our multicultural influences. Our wardrobes are filled with bold, vibrant colors, masculine meets feminine, fresh and timeless pieces all mixed together.
We approach each project with the same intention, to marry our clients’ essence and our design into what is the most sacred place, Home. We use bold statements in stunning simplicity, comb the past present and future for the perfect pieces and do our best to challenge the status quo.
Are there any specific trends that you’re currently blending in your practice?
We always search for the perfect blend of timeless & relevant - not so many trends. We want to evoke emotions. How the colors & design make us and our client feel & how they play with our eyes through textures and patterns.; the goal is to have our designs be everlasting. The use of rattan has been prevalent in the majority of our latest projects- not necessarily a trend, but a timeless raw material.
What is the decorative piece you enjoy selecting for your clients and why?
We enjoy the whole process; we love to tell a story and acquire pieces from all over the world to create a unique personal story for each client.
What would be your dream project to work on?
A hotel! The creative energy of a hotel is so important. The opportunity to design an experience for guests that would create a lasting impression would really be the ultimate dream.
What is your favorite project you have worked on and why?
No favorite project - we create and hold such intimacy with each project that we would never be able to choose! Each project is so diverse and a collaborative experience. Understanding the habits and lifestyle of the clients in order to create the interiors that best reflect the way they live.
